I've remained in Tucson. I graduated from the U of A in '68 and earned my MEd in '71. I taught in TUSD for more than 30 years, but have retired from full time teaching. I taught at Deitz, Van Horne, and Blenman Schools. I've had several part time jobs through the years from being a server at Goog's in Park Mall to being a concierge at the Marriot Univ. Park Hotel. I also worked several years at the Convention Center as Supervisor of Ushers and Ticket Takers. I enjoy being retired! I volunteer at the Tucson Museum of Art as a Docent. I enjoy that role so much as I still get to flex my teaching skills AND savor the various exhibits and collections. I was honored as Docent of the Year for 2008. I also volunteer as an Alumni VIP Docent for the U of A providing campus tours for individuals and groups. (Former PVHS Choir Director Lane Justus, and his wife, are among my peers in this endeavor.) I'm having fun with a "second career" as a tour guide. I work for the PCC Day Study Tour Program and also conduct private walking tours of historic downtown Tucson. I've had another career of sorts morph into my day to day existence as a House and Pet Tender! Through a chain of referrals, I'm presently at other people's homes almost as much as I'm at my own having a great time with my "proxy dogs" ... or as one of my friends has stated: "Phil just sleeps all over town with dogs!!" Being retired has allowed me the freedom to travel a bit. I bought into a timeshare organization several years ago (WorldMark by Wyndham) which encourages me to GO SOMEWHERE fairly often. I've had great times in Manhattan, San Francisco, Sonoma County Wine Country, San Diego, and Vegas. I'm looking forward to Scotland and Ireland before Medicare! I've maintained my single status.
