A lot certainly has happened in the last 45 years. I remained in Tucson until 1968 when I received a BA in education from the University of Arizona. I truly did get my love of teaching from having had some inspirational teachers at PVHS, most notably Mr. Slawson, Ms. Wester, Ms. Poston, Mr. Tweedy, and Mr. Justus. Do you remember them?
I was a teacher for 12 years in Blythe, California. I began teaching English in the public schools. When my Lutheran church began an elementary school, I moved over there to teach a fifth and sixth grade combination class.
In 1988 I became a probation officer at the urging of one of my friends who said the Blythe office needed a good writer to complete court reports. The last 8 years I was the supervisor of the Blythe office, a position that was challenging and very rewarding. I just retired in Ocotober 2008. I have often been teased that teaching middle school must have prepared me well to be a probation officer!
I have been very blessed in my personal life. I have been married to my husband Gerry for almost 29 years. He is a retired Lutheran pastor who now works two days a week as a Superior Court mediator, providing input to the judge on custody and visitation for divorced parents.
We love to travel, especially to visit our 9 fantastic grandchildren and other family. We also try not to pass up an opportunity to take a cruise.
